We had the most wonderful time on our vacation to Idaho! Seriously, so great! So glad that Penni could come up so we could spend time with her. I never thought I would say this. Please sit down so you don't pass out...
Here goes....
I was really sad to leave my family. Even shed a few tears. However, THIS time I didn't shed tears to go back to Lafayette. I have decided I like it here. My home is here. Hey, it is still VERY different from HOME but I don't hate it any more. We had made good friends and really enjoy where we are at this stage in our lives.
Friday after we arrived in SLC we headed up to Idaho and went to the temple. Grandma Tingey was able to join us. Grandpa hasn't been feeling well so he met up with us for dinner. Frontier Pies. This was one of Brian and I's favorite places in Rexburg. We had to order the chicken strips. Yum.
I found these at Deseret Book. It would be bad if I lived close to one. I want to make these for my girls.
These pictures are SO out of order! This is at the Joseph Smith Building in SLC. We were able to go to Kelcie and Augustus' wedding. Kelcie is J and E's daughter. It was really fun to go to the SLC temple. I wish we could have done a session.
So Sheila ran into the living room and said 'they are crop dusting our field, come outside!'
It was so going right over the house and literally missed the power lines by feet.
The pilot dropped stuff for the kids. They loved it!
Brian... I want this camera! I love Idaho! They believe in pink products! We saw really cool stuff that was bright pink. Not the baby pink that you see everywhere.
I told Brian I feel cheated. He has never taken me down in the canyon. I had no idea it was so lovely.
I love this picture!
CAT equipment at work in Twin Falls, Idaho!
Sunday morning we had to have our rental car back by 10:30 am. We then spent the rest of the afternoon in SLC and at temple square. We found a Cheesecake factory! Red Velvet Cheesecake!
The Beehive house. Brian has never been! It was my favorite place as a kid. It was really funny. We were on a tour and I looked out the window and Saw Russ and Michelle walking on the sidewalk.
Don't mind how lovely I look. We got so sunburned the day before out boating with the Doxey's.
These are from a couple weeks ago when we went to Columbus, OH. We went to the zoo and had a great time!
This bear was very funny. He would dive off his rock to go catch some fish.
This reminds me of something Duke would do.
This tiger came up to the window and just sat by me
This monkey is a boy monkey. Oh, we know that for a fact. He kept playing with himself! I will just leave it at that but it was SO FUNNY to sit and watch him for awhile.
Boys and Their Guns!
Willow Creek
I am proud to say I did quite well! We had a competition and I came in right under my dad and Brian.
Andy would throw stick in the creek for us to shoot.
Mammoth
Who looks more excited to be in Yellowstone... Duke, or Logan??
Cute little baby black bear cub would run up and down this tree stump.
Hard to tell but there are two bears behind Brian.
Would you say this person likes bears?
The buffalo were just having their babies. They are so cute!
Yup that is our car. We had to stop for a while and wait for them to take their sweet time to cross.
These next photos are compliments of Brian.... Notice how good of a job he did? :)
We were talking about how cool it would be to see a bear right next to our car or be the first ones to see a bear. Penni offered a prize for the first person to spot a bear. Speaking of which I need to remind her she needs to pay up! You guessed it, I spotted a bear! We were waiting at a construction sight and I yelled There is a Bear! Everyone was giving me a hard time saying no I'm sure it is just a post. (There are lots of posts that look like bears in YNP). I yelled No Really That is a Bear!
They kept looking and sure enough there was a bear a few cars in from of us! If only we were the first car! Brian climbed out the window and started taking pictures of the two bears. This is what we got...
I think Penni got some good pictures I need to get.
Back to my pictures
Fourwheeler ride up to To-Top
This is one of my favorite places ever!
I had to post this picture for memory sake. Forgive the quality of the picture. Mom, do you know where this picture is? Every year when we would take a trip up this trail we would take a picture here. I have a picture of when I was like 10 at this very spot.
Idaho!!!
Welcome to Montana!
The boys looking at the map. That's a shocker.
There is our moose!
This is right after the wedding in SLC on temple square and the conference center
Half way to the waterfall.
Directly under the waterfall. I look like an ant! I feel jipped I didn't get to go down by the waterfall to take wedding pictures! If I would have known this existed I would have insisted that we had our pictures here! I blame Brian.
So if the picture weren't enough...
We flew in to SLC on Friday the 7th. We drove up to Idaho and went to the temple and got snow cones! The snow cones might have been the best ever!
Saturday the boys went shooting. Brian was so excited to get to shoot these special guns on my dad's. He has a had a goal to shoot this type of gun. Don't ask me what was so special about them. I went to Zumba! Oh it was so great. Then mom and I went grocery shopping for the week. Afterwards, we headed to Willow Creek for our day fishing! I don't think Brian thought it was all that great but It was more for memory sake. My mom went to this spot when she was a little girl and they took me when I was little. We would fish and camp and ride fourwheelers and have yummy food. Don't forget frog catching! It was a lot of fun! And on the way home we stopped for Snow Cones! :)
Sunday we went to church and got to see a lot of good family friends. After church we headed up to Island Park. Monday we went in to the park. We saw 14 bears including black ones and brown ones and a momma Grizzly with THREE cubs! We saw moose, elk, deer, buffalo and lots of other animals. We had a great day! It was Brian's first experience inside YNP so I am proud to say he got to see so many cool things.
I have pictures I need to get from my mom.
Tuesday we were going to take the fourwheelers to To-Top. We got up the trail and Montana decided they didn't want to play nice and had the trail closed. That is ok. As you can tell from some of the previous pictures it was cold on the top of the mountain and a storm came through. We headed back and played some tennis, horseshoes, canasta and watched the Spurs.
Tuesday night we headed to Idaho Falls and went to Corinos. Yum Yum! Dad also bought a motorcycle. He and Logan are going to have a great time.
Wednesday Brian and Dad worked on bikes. Brian LOVED it! Mom and I went shopping. We caused some serious damage! I have been saving my pennies to go with my shopping partner. We found some good stuff.
Thusday morning we headed to SLC for the wedding. It was so lovely. I really want to do a session the the SLC temple. I wish I could have seen more if time allowed. That night we headed to Filer.
Friday Steph, Sheila and I ran some errands and went to lunch. It was a great day. That night I went with Steph to watch her boys play baseball. I love watching my family at sporting events! Parker and Kayson did so well! It was freezing!
Saturday the plan was go go boating with all the family and some friends. It was kind of chilly in the morning so some of the family decided to go golfing instead. Brian and I met up with the Doxey's at the lake. By 1 it was hot and a great day. Hence the sunburn. It was a great day. We had so much fun. It made me miss all of the days out on the lake we used to have. That night we had to go pick up some Father's Day stuff and had some extra time before we all met up for dinner at Outback. We went down in to the canyon and took some pictures. I had no idea how pretty it was down there!
Sunday we had to get our rental car back and it was time for us to go home. Well, me to go home. Brian found out the day before they needed someone in Elko, NV so he got a rental car and needed to stay until this coming Thursday. We had several hours to kill before I needed to be to the airport so we headed into the city. We wanted to check out the new City Creek center. It was closed so we didn't get to see much but we found a Cheesecake Factory for lunch. Afterwards, we spent the day on temple square. I love the spirit that you feel while you are there. We watched the film Lagacy while we were there. Man does that bring back memories! I remember going as a kid to the JSB and waiting in line to get to see the church films.
I had to drive home from Indy all by myself. It was horrible. I don't know how many people know this but I HATE driving. Especially in large cities. And Indy is big! My GPS wasn't working and it was late at night with lots of flashing lights and I was watching for deer and drunk drivers ( I did pass someone who I really think was drunk!). I made it home at 1:30 EST. It is Tuesday and I am having a hard time getting back on schedule!
Thanks family and friends for the best vacation ever!
We loved having you home. Hope you guys can come back soon. Maybe Christmas?? Thanks for keeping us updated!
ReplyDeleteJess I love all the pics and wish I could have been there with you all. Next time. Also, I love bears too but I will not be in putting stickers on my car.
