There has been a lot going on here. Nothing too exciting but a lot. Not too long ago we cleaned up my hard drive and put all my pictures on an external drive. Since then I haven't been too great at uploading pictures. We have had so, SO much rain. You Idaho people have no idea what that much rain looks like. I will see what I can find on my phone.
Brina had a trip last week to Quebec. We are also excited to announce we are going back to Idaho in June for a visit! The only people that read this silly little blog are the people who already know we are coming. Oh Well.
With as much rain as we got, we haven't had any for about the last week and already our lawn has lost that lush green look to it. It is so beautiful outside right now. The flowers, the trees, everything is just so pretty right now. Today we hit 89 degrees with 98 percent humidity. It was toasty!
This last weekend we had a really fun weekend. My dad informed us that he had a business trip in Bowling Green, KY so we decided to go meet up with him. It is a 4.5 hour drive so we loaded up Friday morning and headed that way. Kentucky is my new favorite place. I am in love with Louisville right now and everything there. I love the people and how pretty it is. Between Louisville and Bowling Green is seriously one of my favorite places on the planet. Rolling hills and everything is green and lots of animals.
We rolled in to town and Dad called to say that because of the rain things had been postponed for the time being. So Brian and I went to the Corvette Museum and then picked dad up at the hotel. We went shopping and to Chuy's. It is a really good Mexican restaurant. That night we loaded up and headed out to the pulls. They were awesome! The best part is when the alcohol tractor blew up. Literally blew up in to a ball of fire. I wish we could find someone with the video. We got rained out again but it was still really fun.
We headed back to Bowling Green for the night. We woke up and had breakfast and then headed out to do some shopping. Everything is better in B.G... well compared to Lafayette. Our friends J and E go to B.G each year because that is where the closest EFY is so they had a few recommendations for us. One of which was Bruster's Ice Cream. Yumm Yummm!!! It was so good we went once... then had to go again when we picked up my dad. We went out to the drag races which were a ton of fun. Brian really wants to race... I said when you make 300k a year I will consider it.
We had just a wonderful weekend with great company, great food, and great activities. I feel so blessed to get to do some of the things I get to do. We only wish that Mom and Logan could have been there with us.

Spring is Coming!
Not much has been going on here. Brian has been traveling. A LOT. He was gone this past week to Wyoming. Last week I had Spring Break and Brian had some comp days to use so he took those or he probably would have been traveling again.
We were going to go to Omaha but then decided it was going to be too long of a drive for just the two of us. We decided to go to Columbus, OH. We dressed ready to go to the temple. It was a sad moment when we realized it was closed due to maintenance. Did I get upset? NEVER!! Not. It kind of ruined my day, so I thought. I have been wanting to go to the temple for SO long! Last time we could go was Christmas. You people that have temple close by have it so good. Go to the temple as often as you can and think of me. I figured if I can't go to the temple maybe I can get names to go to the temple and that will make me feel better. Either I am just an idiot at this, or all the work has been done! I am guessing it is because I am an idiot. I need to go find my family history consultants in the ward and have them sit down with me.
We got back from Columbus and went down to the Sweet 16 games in Indianapolis. It was a blast! The stadium is SO nice. We saw the last game that Kevin Ware would play this year due to a horrific injury. I think Louisville is my new team. Louisville is a nice area. You'll have to look at my last post about our trip there. I didn't know Ohio State was in Columbus either. There were SO many Louisville people at the game. Indy is only 2 hours away so it was practically a home game.
Saturday we just did house work and recovered from a lot of late nights. Sunday was Easter. I will say, that it was probably the best Easter Sunday I can remember. We had a musical program that was so wonderful.
I went back to school this week... 42 more days until summer! Does that tell you how my week went?
Cheesecake Factory. It was very yummy! Red Velvet Cheesecake!
We went to Johnny Rockets. Our friends really love this place and we found one right across from Buckeye Stadium. It really wasn't all that great.
This is really hard to see. We had a little time to kill before we wanted to head back to IN. We typed in 'shopping' on our phones and it said Macy's was only a few blocks away. My instincts told me it wasn't going to be great shopping because we were down in the college dorm area and it was the hood. We showed up and the store is Turquoise !!! I am NOT exaggerating either! The WHOLE thing is bright blue! I told Brian that this wasn't going to work for me and we should leave. He said we should check it out just to see. We went in and we saw lots of old people. We decided to look through the entire store just to see if we could find someone under the age of 65. How many people would you bet we found? 1. 1! The juniors section was maybe 10 x 10. Brian makes fun of me now when I get Macy's catelogs and says I like to shop at old lady places.
So Awesome!!! Can I just say that Indy and the stadium are awsome!
Ya the seats are not the greatest. They were really nice and comfy though which was surprising. This is where you end up sitting when you buy tickets the night before.
This is Brian's Birthday, Fathers Day, Easter, Christmas and any other holiday in which gifts are given. He was so so excited to buy this shot gun. Thanks Dad for working out all the details for him. I have caught him in by the safe 3 times just looking at it. And we got it last night...

This is at IHop before the Zoo. Brian loves this place and I HATE it. I thought I deserved the wife of the year award for being willing to go with him. Doesn't he look happy. Then so full...

This picture doesn't do these flowere justice. Brian is a very sweet husband and likes to bring me flowers when he has been gone a lot. I think this is one of the best bunches he has brought home. Thanks so much Brian!
I don't know if I have ever blogged about this, but I LOVE the show The Voice. Seriously love it. This season is my favorite. I love all the coaches. Blake, Adam, Usher, and Shakira. I really like Shakira! Way better than Christina and C-Lo. This week on the radio I heard that Adam announced a new tour which is coming here to ME! Tickets went on sale this morning. I got on about 11 to purchase them. They go quick!!! I got really upset because the computer was being funny and I couldn't find any tickets I wanted! I didn't want to sit on the lawn but I didn't want to pay 300 a ticket either. I was so sad because I LOVE Adam!! Brian surprised me during conference and was able to find some decent seats for a decent price. I am SUPER Duper excited.
and just an f.y.i......With 8.8 second left my Cards are up by 3! Go CARDS!!!

Travel Post
February 18th
Casper, Wy
Gillette, WY
Yet again Brian had a trip come up when I didn't have to work. He owes me right! No, I had a great day. I slept in. I had breakfast in bed. Went to Safe Haven. Got lunch. Went shopping. Read an entire Nicholas Sparks book for the second time. Watch Sugar choke in the 4th quarter and loose to Shelley. Well that last part was not fun.
Safe Haven was my favorite book I think. I was not expecting the movie to live up to my expectations. I have a hard time with the movies because they never live up to the hype. I love, love his books. And I will say, I loved this movie. I might just go back again.

It has been brought to my attention that my blog is outdated. Yes it is. But so was yours! ....you know who you are.... MOTHER.
Things here in Lafayette, IN. are good. The weather here has been really nice. It gets up in the 60s then the next day it is 10 degrees. A week ago Friday we had a 2 hour delay. I wasn't expecting it at all. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it, but I didn't enjoy the 7 phone calls I got telling me it was a 2 hr. delay. Did I mention they started coming in at 5 am? So no sleeping in for me!
A couple of weeks ago it was really cold for out here. All the schools around had a 2 hr. delay announced the day before. I was hoping we would get one but it didn't happen. The rumor is that the school district took a lot of flack for not posting a 2 hr. delay so we think last Friday was a make up day. We don't have to make up 2 hr. delays. If the whole day is cancelled however we have to have a makeup day. THAT BLOWS! Luckily my school hasn't had that happen yet.
I have been debating taking a new job. It came out of the blue. It would have been a LOT more money and I think I would have really enjoyed it. It came down to do I want to work all year and make lots more money, or take my low paying job but really have a lot more freedom. And I am thinking of subbing next year because I get several calls a week.
Well I have had a hard time deciding what to do. Like really, I had no idea what to do. Living just of Brian's salary and putting LOTS of money in a savings account sounded so good. Like SO good. Well, Saturday I got the answer to my prayers.
I had been praying quite intensely and I kind of came to the conclusion that the Lord didn't care what I chose to do. They are both good opportunities and I needed to just take a leap and choose. Rewind to last week...
I have a little boy in my class that is the nicest kid. He really likes me. Not a crush, he just really likes me. I have a lot of kids like that now that I think about it. I think they really do love me. Anyways, he has been begging me to come to his basketball game. Last week he played at 8:30 and that was way to early for me to be out and about on a Saturday. So back to this past Saturday.
His game was at 10 so that was easily makable for us. We started the day at Mary Lou's Donuts. We got a blueberry, 2 chocolate creme filled, a maple ring, and 2 glazed and a chocolate milk. Don't worry, we didn't eat all of them. We thought it would be nice to take a donut to him. They play at Bauer Community center. I have heard a lot of my kids talk about it and they LOVE to go there. They have TVs, pool tables, basketball courts and lots of other fun things that they can go do after school.
We walk in to the gym and he sees me and runs right over to me to hug me. The light in his eyes was something that I can't describe. He had to introduce me to everyone. Just proud as can be to know me. It was fun because I saw 4 of my kids and several other kids I know from school. They were SO happy to see Brian and I. They all had to come sit by us. They had to go tell their parents that Mrs. Allen came to watch them! I had no idea so many of them played.
This little boy's mom came up to me and said I want to just thank you. I know you have to be so busy especially on a Saturday and it means so much that you would come watch him play. He comes home and talks about you every day and has been talking about you coming to his game for weeks now. You have no idea what this means to all of us.
I don't know how to say this without being rude, but we were definitely out of place there. Any other people noticed it as well. We were the nicest looking, well manicured people in the whole place. I don't say it judgingly. After the game we gave my kids their donuts and said bye to their families when a coach stopped us. We watched these two coaches ref the game before and coach my kid's game and they seemed like very nice men. They stopped us with a weird look on their faces and said, so who exactly are you here to see?? Like I said, we didn't look like the people that would typically patronize a function like this.
We told them I work at the school up the hill and a bunch of my kids were playing today. They were so grateful that we came. We got to talking and it is so neat what they do. These to men have 50 kids playing basketball. They have practice every Monday night and they put together this league for kids for free. Their company helped renovate the gym and get new back boards and score boards. They said they grew up down here (meaning the hood of town,) and they wanted to give kids a good place to be.
It made us both want to go back this Saturday and maybe get involved and help out with things. We were in our gym clothes and heading to the gym next. While driving I just had this moment. I can't take this new job. All the extra money I would make can't make up for the lives I am changing. My kids love me. I don't know how to explain the feeling that I had, but I knew that this is where the Lord wanted me. My job at the school happened so quickly and I know that I am there for a purpose. They need me.
My decision was confirmed again today when I get to school and every stinkin' one of my kids that I saw Saturday had to tell everyone that they saw that Mr. and Mrs. Allen came to watch them on Saturday and to see the light on their face couldn't be beat. I can't afford to miss out on the blessing that I will get from serving these kids.
Yes, some days I just want to quit, and I just might one of these days. But, on days like today I am reminded that they need someone to care for them and to be on their team. That is what I do for my kids.
What a long story for me to realize what I need to do.
There is so much filth and wrong in the world today. Some days I can't believe that some of God's children have to go through what they do and why they came to families they did. But I am so happy to report that this weekend I was able to see some great things and meat some truly amazing people. There is still some good in this word. I am honored that I can be apart of it.
And a shout out to the Sugar-Salem Diggers. Well, maybe not. I am watching the game online right now and they are down by 1 with 3 minutes left. I will give them the benefit of the doubt though. Brian and I have been to several volleyball, football and basketball games here in the Lafayette, IN area. Our little spec on the map it top notch. All of eastern Idaho deserves a shout out, but especially my Diggers.
You all have so much spirit. You have great community support. Great Cheerleaders. Great everything! You would think that living where we do there sports programs would be elite. Not the case. The community doesn't support the teams. The student section is slim and the cheerleaders just stand there. This year has made us really appreciate the quality of everything that Idaho has. So be grateful that the sports programs are as good as you have.
And my Diggers are still down by 1 with a minute left! AAAAAGH!

Travel Log
This year I want to try and log all of our travels. Well Brian's. That way at the end of the year we can look back and see how many trips he went on and where he went.
January 13-16 Casper, Wyoming
January 16-20 Elko, Nevada
January 20- Gillette, Wyoming
Then he might go straight to Mexico. We will see. Things change so fast in this business!
Today was a good day. One of my favorite girls at school was adopted today. She is 7 years old. Just a sweet heart. I have always liked her and it has always broken my heart to hear her stories about going in and out of foster homes. Last week she ran up to me and said Mrs. Allen I am getting adopted!! Words can not describe the joy that was all over her face. Every day she would give me the countdown of when she was getting adopted. This morning she went with her new mom and dad and became one of their family. She came back and gave me the biggest hug. I started getting emotional! All day I have been thinking about this sweet little girl and the sweet parents she now has. I have never met them but anyone that takes children in and loves them have to be wonderful people. I know that not all foster families are good but I am choosing to think that this particular couple is kind and wonderful. I can tell by how excited she is to have a family to love her.
Our weather here has been crazy! Last Saturday it was 65 degrees. Yes, you heard me. 65! And Sunday.... 20... I experienced my first ice storm! It wasn't terrible but it was definitely an ice storm. This week has been really cold. Not Idaho cold. I am grateful for the mild Indiana winters compared to Idaho!
I was going to blog about something but I just forgot. Until I remember....

Christmas P2
Don't I look so excited?!
My new pots!!! YEA!
was very surprised. Brian is excellent at surprises.
I
The day after Christmas we get a freak snow storm. It was a baby storm to us but it shut the whole town down! Very few stores were open, but if they were, we got great deals! I got lots of Christmas stuff for next year! Doesn't our house look cute with lights???!!! LOVE IT!
